Capacity

Pallet Rack Capacities

The primary function of warehouse pallet racking is to elevate products, keeping them secure and easily accessible. However, durability is equally important, given its proximity to warehouse employees and pedestrians. To prevent collapse and ensure safety, pallet racking must be carefully selected and correctly installed to handle the weight and withstand impacts from daily operations.

Our warehouse solutions consultants will explore:

  • Vertical Beam Spacing
  • Beam Length
  • Upright Frame Capacity
  • Pallet Weight and Dimensions

What Is Reviewed During A Site Survey?

Our complimentary site survey includes a comprehensive assessment of your warehouse or storage area. We evaluate the available space, including ceiling height, and review the products being moved along with their load sizes. Additionally, we analyze throughput methods, assess your current equipment to confirm capabilities like turning radius and lift height, and recommend alternatives if needed. Finally, we develop a plan to maximize pallet positions and identify the best strategies to optimize your operations.

How Much Is The Cost Of A CAD Drawing?

CAD drawings are essential for most warehouse solutions projects, especially when dealing with large spaces. Both the drawings and the site survey with our sales consultant are always provided at no additional cost.

How Can We Protect Our Pallet Racking?

When a forklift strikes pallet racking, it can weaken the structure and reduce its stability. Repeated impacts may eventually cause the racking to collapse, posing a serious risk to both employees and products.

Rack protectors come in various designs and can be used in most applications, including narrow aisles where space is limited. The most common type of rack protection is positioned close to the upright, wrapping around to shield it from all angles. It is anchored securely to the floor at four points to provide robust protection against impacts.

If you have damaged racking, contact ProLift to explore repair or replacement options for those components.

Visibility

Loading And Off-Loading Product On Pallet Racking

When a forklift operator's visibility is obstructed by the mast, product, or pallet racking, it can result in damage to the racking. One common issue is oversized products that don't fit properly in the available space. Since load dimensions can vary, periodic measurements are essential. Following specific guidelines ensures that the space adequately accommodates the product, preventing racking damage and enhancing safety.

  • Allow 6” from the top of the load to the bottom of the above shelf
  • Allow 4” for each side of the load, whether it’s next to another pallet or racking upright
  • When two loads sit next to each other, your measurements between them will be 8”
