What To Know

What Is The Difference Between An Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) and Automated Forklifts?

An automated guided vehicle (AGV) is a general term for any mobile robot that follows predetermined paths to transport materials within a facility.

An automated guided forklift is a specialized type of AGV that is specifically designed to perform forklift operations. In addition to navigating along predetermined routes like other AGVs, it is equipped with a lifting mechanism that allows it to pick up, move, and stack palletized loads. This makes it particularly well-suited for tasks that require both transportation and vertical material handling.

Can The Equipment Operate Without A Person?

Yes, an automated forklift is engineered to operate without a person physically onboard. These vehicles are equipped with advanced navigation systems, sensors, and safety features that allow them to autonomously transport and handle loads in controlled environments such as warehouses or manufacturing facilities.

How Can Automated Forklifts Enhance Safety?

Automated forklifts include safety systems, including obstacle detection and emergency stop functions, to ensure safe operation even without an onboard operator. Remote monitoring is often in place so that human supervisors can intervene if necessary.
