When purchasing a new or used forklift, it’s important to have a reliable source for parts. Not having the right forklift part when you need it can result in a forklift being down long enough to delay daily production.
At ProLift we pride ourselves on having a Centralized Purchasing team for our 8 locations. Not every dealership is organized centrally so why do we do it? And how does it benefit our customers?
5 Benefits of Centralized Forklift Parts Purchasing
Volume Pricing
With visibility of demand for specific forklift parts throughout ProLift, our Centralized Purchasing team can place orders for all customers at once. Larger orders secure volume pricing and decrease freight – all savings that can be passed along to our customers.
Items In Stock
A weekly inventory review exposes recent purchasing trends and needs of our customers. If our team notices a particular forklift part is consistently requested, ProLift can react quickly by putting this part in standard inventory. When the next request comes through, it’s on the shelf, ready to go. Weekly reviews also include restocking depleted inventory and uncovering obsolete parts.
Source from 9 Locations
Our Centralized Purchasing team has an overview of ProLift’s 8 locations; therefore, when a forklift part is not available in Cincinnati, it can be pulled from Indianapolis to save time for our customer. Also, when there is a need to source a new forklift part, our local parts managers introduce the team to available vendors. It help ProLift find cost efficient, customer-focused partners.
Vendor Communication
With our team centralized, vendors can easily reach ProLift for questions about an order. The more details from the vendor, the better information we can share with our customer. This communication is especially beneficial when forklift parts are on backorder or there is a price increase.
Consistent Coverage
Dedicated purchasing specialists trained on the same processes ensures ProLift always has staff coverage, keeping forklift part orders and inventory consistent. Supporting each member of the team means our customers are being taken care of and our parts managers can rely on the established routine. By submitting their forklift part orders to the Centralized Purchasing team, the parts managers can spend more time consulting with our customers.
