As a forklift technician, you are the person to help customers get their forklifts running or keep it operating efficiently with routine maintenance. “I often tell our technicians they aren’t only the troubleshooters but the superheroes,” says Holly Duddy, ProLift’s Corporate Recruiter. “People are happy to see them arrive.”
At ProLift, technicians fall into two categories: shop or road. “Overall, we have a higher percentage of road technicians to ensure coverage for all customers,” Holly states. “Our forklift technicians don’t necessary live close to the local office; however, they are stationed throughout our territory which keeps them closer to the customers needing service and maintenance.”
Forklift Technician: Work Environment
Finding the best work environment for you is shaped by a few factors. For example, do you:
- Enjoy working directly with the customer, or behind the scenes?
- Prefer a variety of troubleshooting, or scheduled service jobs with known diagnosis?
- Like to work independently, or have daily interaction with other technicians and internal support teams?
- Feel more comfortable with a consistent work station, or prefer visiting customer sites for their onsite service?
